Friday Finds #14

Friday finds is a meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading which showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list. Whether you found them online, in a bookstore, or in the library - wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

Hey book nerds! :3 How are you all doing today? :D I hope you all enjoyed my two featured post over the last two days, my Book Blitz (with Giveaway!) and Cover Reveal. :) I'm thinking of signing up for more of them so I get more varied content to post and such - so it's not all the same! :) What do you guys think? Also, what do you think of my new layout? I, personally love it. ^.^ It's more professional and smarter than the Christmas one I did. :) Also, I did have my friend, Sarah over for a couple of hours yesterday, it was really fun. ^.^ It's going to be the last time I see her before she goes back to Uni, which sucks.. D:

Friday Finds

All These Lives by Sarah Wylie.
Sixteen-year-old Dani is convinced she has nine lives. As a child she twice walked away from situations where she should have died. But Dani’s twin, Jena, isn’t so lucky. She has cancer and might not even be able to keep her one life. Dani’s father is in denial. Her mother is trying to hold it together and prove everything’s normal. And Jena is wasting away. To cope, Dani sets out to rid herself of all her extra lives. Maybe they’ll be released into the universe and someone who wants to live more than she does will get one. Someone like Jena. But just when Dani finds herself at the breaking point, she’s faced with a startling realization. Maybe she doesn’t have nine lives after all. Maybe she really only ever had one.

Because his girlfriend is Em's best friend.

On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that's nothing compared to what's really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it's only a matter of time before he's exposed. In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls--three beautiful, mysterious girls--are here to choose who will pay. Em and Chase have been chosen.

He's After Me by Chris Higgins.
Anna's bruised and upset by the collapse of her parents' marriage. So much of the fallout - including responsibility for her wayward younger sister - seems to be heading in her direction. All she wants is to get the exam results she needs to get herself to university - and away from this mess. She certainly wants nothing to do with boys - until Jem appears. Gradually he wins her trust, and becomes everything Anna needs him to be. But Anna's about to discover that love stories don't always have happy endings...

The Way We Fall (Fallen World, #1) by Megan Crewe.
It starts with an itch you just can't shake. Then comes a fever and a tickle in your throat. A few days later, you'll be blabbing your secrets and chatting with strangers like they’re old friends. Three more, and the paranoid hallucinations kick in. And then you're dead.

When sixteen-year-old Kaelyn lets her best friend leave for school without saying goodbye, she never dreams that she might not see him again. But then a strange virus begins to sweep through her small island community, infecting young and old alike. As the dead pile up, the government quarantines the island: no one can leave, and no one can come back. Those still healthy must fight for the island’s dwindling supplies, or lose all chance of survival. As everything familiar comes crashing down, Kaelyn joins forces with a former rival and discovers a new love in the midst of heartbreak. When the virus starts to rob her of friends and family, she clings to the belief that there must be a way to save the people she holds dearest. Because how will she go on if there isn't?

Hey Book Nerds! :D How are you all doing today? Today I'm posting something a little different; it's going to be a cover reveal for the book Raksha by a debut author, Frankie Rose! :) I hadn't heard of this author or book before I signed up for this post, but the look looks fantastic. ^.^ Keep scrolling to see the wonderful cover. I think the cover is bad-ass! I love it. :) The girl on the cover is so pretty and punk-like and the background and colours are incredible. I'd buy this book just for the cover appeal - although I love the looks of the book, too! :)

Love.

When a newly-named Kit escapes the Sanctuary after killing her best friend, the last thing she needs is another knife in her hand. Or Ryka, the damaged, beautiful blonde boy, who she refuses to let save her. Still learning how to process the onslaught of her new feelings, the sights and sounds of Freetown are overwhelming and strange. There are a hundred differences between her old home and her new one, but one thing remains starkly similar: the matches. Yet where the blood in the Sanctuary landed only on the colosseum floor, Kit will quickly learn that a river of red runs through Freetown’s very streets.

Freed from the oppression of a society who stole her right to feel, the true horror of her old life leaves Kit wondering if she really has been freed at all. Would she be better off without the crippling horror of all the blood on her hands, or is the love of one boy worth living through all the pain?

Raksha is the call of the dead. It is the rumbling chant for fresh blood from the other side, the demand for sacrifice. The colosseum is behind Kit. The fighting pits await.

Frankie Rose was born in the United Kingdom, but now lives with her husband in sunny Australia.

She officially makes things up for a living, and when she's not doing that, she is generally making paper birds out of receipts and old lists or taking photographs that make her smile.

Wonderlander, Neverlander, Unicorn-chaser, enchanter, musician, survived a coma, & totally awesome. Sometimes I tell stories. Always luv the little monsters I write young adult paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and science fiction mostly. The Grimm Diaries series is a seven book saga that deals with retellings of fairy tales from a young adult POV - it connects most of the fairy tales together and claims to be the truth about fairy tales. I live in San Fransisco and seriously think circles are way cooler than triangles.

Excerpt

From Chapter 28
The first thing I see when I wake up is a pair of beautiful green eyes. It’s Leo. He is holding a bar of chocolate in his hand, and he doesn’t have a sleeping bag. I crawl sleepily out of mine.
“Are you okay?” he asks.
“I had a bad dream,” I yawn.
“Really? I thought I heard you cry out.”
“So? Can’t a girl have some privacy in a bad dream? Why are you awake?” The rest are asleep.
“Just checking on you.” He smirks, a little better than usual, with a smile hidden somewhere. “I brought you chocolate,” he offers.
I take it abruptly. “You found my weak spot.” I bite hard. The chocolate tastes funny. “So what’s yours?”
“Mine?”
“Your weak spot.”
“I don’t have one,” he says bluntly.
“Not even me?”
“That, we have to talk about when we get out of here alive.”

Publisher: William Morrow.
Expected Publication: April 16th, 2013.
Format: Paperback, 432 pages.

Eighteen year old Harper has grown up under her career Marine of a father's thumb. Ready to live life her own way and experience things she's only ever heard of from the jarheads in her father's unit; she's on her way to college at San Diego State University. Thanks to her new roommate, Harper is introduced to a world of parties, gorgeous guys, family and emotions. Some she wasn't expecting yet, and others she never knew she was missing.

She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with her boyfriend Brandon, and her roommate's brother Chase. Covered in tattoos, known for fighting in the Underground and ridiculously muscled...they're exactly what she was always warned to stay away from, but just what she needs. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both adore and would do anything for Harper, including stepping back if it means she's happy. Her first year away is turning out to be near perfect, but one weekend of giving in to heated passion will change everything.

Due to sexual situations and language, this is Mature YA/New Adult. Recommended for ages 17+. I know this book has already been released in e-book/kindle format, but I don't buy books in those formats so I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this book in print! :D I'm really loving the looks of a lot of comtemporary books lately and this one looks like another incredible one. ^.^ I think the cover looks awesome, even know the set-up of the photograph is similar to over covers I've seen. I love the colouring on this one! :)

What are you "Waiting On" this Wednesday? Leave me a comment or a link to your blog post and I'll be sure to check it out! :D Happy Reading. (:

Teaser Tuesday #14

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by MizB of; Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along by doing the following. Grab your current read open to a random page and share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page - remember, no spoilers! Don't forget to share the title and the author.

Hey Book Nerds. :3 Happy New Year! How are you all doing today? I hope you all had a great evening last night. :) It's my mum's birthday on New Years Eve, and we always have our family over for a little party - partly to celebrate New Years and partly because it's her special day. We have food, drink and all sort of mingle until 11:55, where we then all sit in the lounge and watch Big Ben strike midnight and watch the fireworks. :) It's been a yearly tradition for over 10 years now and It's great fun. I had my friend, Emily over for the evening and It was great. What did you guys do for New Year? ^.^ Lastly, I didn't quite finish my Good Reads reading challenge which was annoying, I was only 9 books off of my 50 book goal. Which actually isn't too bad seeing as I only started reading again properly in September. :3

Teasers

"By fifth block of the day, not even three hours after I first spotted him in the cafeteria, the story has grown into something you might see on a made-for-TV movie. People are saying Ben strangled his girlfriend before he pushed her over the cliff that day; that when the police searched his backpack they discovered a roll of duct tape, a ten-inch knife, and a list of other girls he'd wanted to attack."

First off, let me start by saying; I LOVE this cover, it's totally gorgeous. I especially love the decal around the writing with the swirls - it's amazing. ^.^ I only started this book yesterday, I'm about 30 pages in and I already love it! :D The storyline is already forming and I just love it. :D I plan to do a review of it when I've finished reading it if anyone is interested. ^.^

What are your teasers for this Tuesday? Leave me a comment or a link to your blog post and I'll be sure to check it out! :D Happy Reading. (:
