Teaser Tuesday #17

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by MizB of; Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along by doing the following. Grab your current read open to a random page and share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page - remember, no spoilers! Don't forget to share the title and the author.

Hey Book Nerds! :3 How are you all doing on this fine Tuesday? :P I'm getting really close to 50 blog followers - so keep an eye out for that giveaway! :D It's started to snow again here today, it's so pretty - the flakes of snow are huge! XD I should probably stop waffling on about the snow, but it's such a rarity where I live. :) I'm sorry for this post being later today, I got distracted by The Walking Dead, season two - which I got for Christmas. ^.^

Teasers

"The operating room is small and crowded, full of blindingly bright lights, which highlight how grubby this place is. It's nothing like on TV, where operating rooms are like pristine theatres that could accommodate an opera singer, and an audience."

- Page 48, "If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)"
by Gayle Forman.

I quite like this book so far. It's a relatively short read and the premise is really good, however it hasn't wowed me yet. It is a good book so far and I'm enjoying it. ^.^ As for the cover, I actually kind of like it! I wasn't too keen on it at first, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I love the trees at the top and the sparkles. :3 Have any of you read If I Stay? :)

What are your teasers for this Tuesday? Leave me a comment or a link to your blog post and I'll be sure to check it out! :D Happy Reading. (:

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Join the craze meme at Tyngas Reviews & have fun. :3

Hey book nerds! :D How are you all doing today? It snowed the day before yesterday - which is quite rare for my part of the country - and because the temperature hasn't risen, it's not melted! It's so awesome; I'm like a little kid again. :P Anyway, I finish Matched last night and I really liked it, I gave it 4/5 stars. After I put that book away I started Secret Lives, which is the first book in the Darke Academy series, and I really like it so far! :) Lastly, I'm sorry if this post is a bit late, I had it written out this morning whilst I was uploading my YouTube video, but when I went to add the video to the post, the post had disappeared! >.> So I had to rewrite it, which sucked...

Photos And Book Information

0.4 (Point 4, #1) by Mike Lancaster.
The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner.

All of these books I purchased from The Works, which is a British Book store that sells books really cheaply! I only spend £1.99 on each book and there was also a ‘3 books for £5’ deal AS WELL AS 10% off any order over £10. So I saved quite a bit! ^.^ I'm really excited about starting all these books and I'm so glad I managed to get a hold of them. :P If I had to pick one that I was most excited about reading though, I'd have to be either; The Immortal Rules or My Soul To Save. :D What do you guys think of my purchases for this week, have you read any of them? :3

What books did you get this week? Leave me a comment or a link to your blog post and I'll be sure to check it out! ^.^ Happy reading! (:

Friday Finds #16

Friday finds is a meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading which showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list. Whether you found them online, in a bookstore, or in the library - wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

Hey book nerds! :3 How are you all doing today? :D I'm great myself. My amount of followers suddenly shot up yesterday and I'm already at 41 followers, yikes! ^.^ I think some of them are due to YA-Aholic, so thanks Haley, you're awesome. ^.^ I progressed a bit further with Matched yesterday, but not at all today. I'm finding it good, but a little slow! It's definitely not a book that's WOWing me or one I can't seem to put down, but oh well - I'm still liking it! :)

Friday Finds

Anthem for Jackson Dawes by Celia Bryce.
Megan Bright and Jackson Dawes are two teenagers who first meet each other on the hospital ward where they are both being treated for cancer. Megan is scared and worried about her illness, but Jackson seems to be an old hand, having been on the ward for ages. And everybody loves Jackson! He is a whirlwind of life and energy, warmth and sparkle. Megan will need to borrow some of Jackson's extraordinary optimism to face her and Jackson's future. A moving story of first love and a remarkably powerful debut novel.

Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff.
The city of Ludlow is gripped by the hottest July on record. The asphalt is melting, the birds are dying, petty crime is on the rise, and someone in Hannah Wagnor’s peaceful suburban community is killing girls. For Hannah, the summer is a complicated one. Her best friend Lillian died six months ago, and Hannah just wants her life to go back to normal. But how can things be normal when Lillian’s ghost is haunting her bedroom, pushing her to investigate the mysterious string of murders?

Hannah’s just trying to understand why her friend self-destructed, and where she fits now that Lillian isn’t there to save her a place among the social elite. And she must stop thinking about Finny Boone, the big, enigmatic delinquent whose main hobbies seem to include petty larceny and surprising acts of kindness. With the entire city in a panic, Hannah soon finds herself drawn into a world of ghost girls and horrifying secrets. She realizes that only by confronting the Valentine Killer will she be able move on with her life—and it’s up to her to put together the pieces before he strikes again.

Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf.
Allie lost everything the night her boyfriend, Trip, died in a horrible car accident—including her memory of the event. As their small town mourns his death, Allie is afraid to remember because doing so means delving into what she’s kept hidden for so long: the horrible reality of their abusive relationship. When the police reopen the investigation, it casts suspicion on Allie and her best friend, Blake, especially as their budding romance raises eyebrows around town. Allie knows she must tell the truth. Can she reach deep enough to remember that night so she can finally break free? Debut writer Jennifer Shaw Wolf takes readers on an emotional ride through the murky waters of love, shame, and, ultimately, forgiveness.

The Thing About The Truth by Lauren Barnholdt.
Kelsey’s not going to let one mistake ruin her life. Sure, she got kicked out of prep school and all her old friends are shutting her out. But Kelsey’s focused on her future, and she’s determined to get back on track at Concordia High. Isaac’s been kicked out of more schools than he can count. Since his father’s a state senator, Isaac’s life is under constant scrutiny—but Concordia High’s his last stop before boarding school, so Isaac’s hoping to fly under the radar and try to stay put for a change.

When Kelsey and Isaac meet, it’s anything but love at first sight. She thinks he’s an entitled brat, and he thinks she’s a stuck-up snob. So it surprises them both when they start to fall for each other. Kelsey’s happy for the first time in months, and Isaac’s never felt this way about anyone before. But nothing’s ever completely perfect. Everyone has secrets, and Isaac and Kelsey are no exceptions. These two may have fallen hard, but there’s one thing that can ruin it all: the truth.

Summaries from Good Reads. All these books look incredible and the covers are all awesome. ^.^ Anthem for Jackson Dawes looks like it's going to be a fantastic debut novel. (: Paper Valentine I heard about via Giselle at Book Nerd Canada when she posted her last Stacking The Shelve post and I can't wait to get my hands on. It also has an epic cover! As for the other two, they just look amazing as well. >:3 I love the cover for Breaking Beautiful, it's gorgeous. :D What do you think of my finds this week?

Liebster Blog Award

I've been nominated for a Blog Award! How crazy is that? :D I've only been blogging since the end of September, yet I feel like I've been doing it for years. I love my blog and my wonderful followers. So thank you all for being awesome. ^.^ Also, I'd like to thank, Sarah from Book-A-Holic for nominating me - it was so nice of her! :D I'm still trying to figure out why she thought my blog was good enough, but I'm trying not to question it. ^.^ I've never been nominated for anything before, so this is an honour! :3

Rules

1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog and link back to the blogger who presented this award to you.

2. Answer the 11 questions from the nominator, list 11 random facts about yourself and create 11 questions for your nominees.

3. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 11 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve to be noticed and leave a comment on their blog letting them know they have been chosen. (No tag backs)

4. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.

Questions From Sarah

1. Why did you start blogging?
Well, I've always wanted to work my own blog, yet could never seem to stick at it. I had a Beauty Blog and YouTube account, because I'm a make-up enthusiast, but I always felt rediculous. However, when I found the book blogging community, I knew that's what I wanted to do. To share my love of books with everyone, and to keep track of my reading - so I started my blog. :)

2. If you could meet any author alive or dead who would it be and why?
It would have to be J.K. Rowling. :) Harry Potter is my childhood, and I've been following Harry Potter ever since I could remember. My mum used to read the books to me and my siblings whilst we all sat in the lounge and listened. Eventually, we ended up getting the Audio Tapes, read by Stephen Fry, and we'd listen to them instead. I think it was a bit of relief for my mum! :P The audio tapes are old and worn out now, but we still listen to them to this day. :)

3. What is your favorite novel that you were forced to read in school?
Probably Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare! At first, it felt like such a hardship, having to read the book in English class and having to dissect it and break it down. But when I actually got into the book, I found that I fell in love with it! I actually found myself looking forward to English so I could read some more and found it easy to answer the questions we were asked about it. :)

4. If you could travel to any world from a book which would it be and why?
Definitely the world of Harry Potter! When I was younger I used to wish that it was real and that I was a witch. I'd give anything to be able to go to Hogwarts. (: I don’t really have a proper explanation, other than the fact that it’s a story world I love! :D

5. If you could be friends with any book character who would it be?
Probably Chloe, from The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong. I think she's an awesome character and I also think we'd get along really well. :)

6. What is your favorite color?
Well, my favourite colour has changed so much! I used to change my favourite colour every month when I was younger, because I love loads of different shades and hues. However, whilst I got older, I stopped on my particular favourite - Purple! :D

7. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Probably receiving feedback from other book bloggers and reading the lovely comments I get. Also, I love meeting and talking to people who have the same obsession as myself. :P Some of my friends do read, but not to the same extent as I do, nor always the same genres. So it's always great talking to people who have read the same books and are excited for the same pre-releases. ^.^

8. What is the one thing that bothers you most in books (pet peeve)?
Probably Insta-Love! It really irritates me. I don't believe the characters can meet for the first time and be in love straight away. I mean; there’s attraction, lust and wanting to be with the person - that's fine - but sudden, heart-breaking, soul-destroying love? No way! Especially if the characters don't know anything about each other, yet claim they love each other already. It just really irks me when authors write like that, because it doesn't happen in real life.

9. What was your favorite book of 2012?
Wow, I'm not enterily sure! I read so many incredible books last year that it's hard to pick. However, if I had to narrow it down to one, it'd have to be: The DUFF by Kody Keplinger. I was expecting to like it, quite a bit actually. But I wasn't expecting to fall in love with it! It's only a contemporary novel, but I thought it was incredible and I really loved it. The chemistry between the two characters made me swoons. (Yes! I used the word swoon. :P)

10. Have there been any books that you have read recently that have suprised you? Which ones?
Yes, there have been one or two. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick is one. I wasn't expecting much from it actually, but picked it up because of all the people who've loved it and recommended it. I'm not a huge fan of Angels, but I found myself pleasantly surprised that I actually loved it! :D

11. Who is your number one book boyfriend?
Well, there's Severus Snape from Harry Potter, who's my book Husband. I'm totally obsessed with Severus and very much in love with him. :3 But as for a book boyfriend, probably; Jace from City of Bones. He's so dark, and mysterious and cute, I just want to pounce on him! Anyone noticing a bit of a pattern here? I love dark, brooding, mysterious and snarky characters... They are the best! >:D

Random Facts About Me

1. I have eleven piercings; five in my left ear, three in my right, two in my nose and one on my lip. I'm also getting a tattoo soon! :)

2. I own over 350 DVD's and I'm constantly watching them when I'm not reading. ^.^

3. I have a passion for Beauty and Makeup and I'm constantly creating new looks. I love eyeshadows and lipsticks the most. (:

4. I'm a really stubborn person, also, a perfectionist! I will work on something till it's fixed, even if it takes me hours. ^.^

5. I use way too many emotes whilst writing my blog and talking to people online. Tell me if it annoys you, okay? xD

6. I'm obsessed with Japan. I love everything about it, from the culture, right down to the anime. I can't wait to go there one day, and even hope to teach English there for a year.

7. I love reading Fan Fictions, especially about Harry Potter characters. My one true pairing is Hermione/Severus - I don't care about the age difference! :)

8. I love Pokémon, I don't care how old it is! I still watch the old episodes and play the Pokémon video games. ^.^

9. I have a strong dislike for deliberately illiterate people; people who 'tlk lyk dis'.

Hey Book Nerds. ^.^ I hope you're all doing well and you're having a great week so far. :) I'm so tired today, so all I'm going to do is sit around and watch The Lying Game. Lazy day! :D I got nominated for the Liebster Book Award the other day and I'm so pleased. ^.^ My post for it will be up on Thursday, along with my nominee's for the award. :) Love you guys! Lastly, I didn't do any reading yesterday, isn't that strange? XD I was just so tired and I went to bed early and didn't feel like picking up a book. Hopefully I'll be picking Matched up again tonight. :3

Title: Golden.

Expected Publication: May 14th, 2013.

Seventeen-year-old Parker Frost may be a distant relative of Robert Frost, but she has never taken the road less traveled. Valedictorian and quintessential good girl, she’s about to graduate high school without ever having kissed her crush or broken the rules.

So when fate drops a mystery in her lap—one that might be the key to uncovering the truth behind a town tragedy, she decides to take a chance.

I love the looks of this book! It really looks amazing. Plus, the cover is to die for! It's so gorgeous and the colours are amazing - I also love the stencil designs on the bottom. :) The cover makes it look like a cute summer read, although the synopsis doesn't give a lot away about it. ^.^ I really can't wait to get my hands on it, what do you guys think of it?
