Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Hey Book Nerds! :D How are you all doing today? :) I finished reading my book, 'Boys, Girls and Other Hazardous Materials' last night and I really enjoyed it! :) I gave it a 4/5 star rating and I really recommend it if you like contemporary. ^.^ As for what I'm reading now, I decided to pick up The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa. I LOVED The Immortal Rules and I just couldn't wait any longer to see where the story went in the sequel. It's already a great book so far, and I'm only about 50 pages in. :) Anyway, onto today’s meme! (I only managed to choose 9 books for this week, sorry ^^; )

Top Ten Most Intimidating Books

1. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.
I kind of feel like this book should go without saying. However I thought I'd list it because it seems like a very intimidating book to me. Not only does this novel contain over 800 pages, but it is also high Fantasy. To be perfectly honest; I've not read many Fantasy based novels before, so I'm quite worried about starting it. The amount of hype that this book has gotten recently has also intimidated me a little. Hopefully once I start it, I'll enjoy it.

2. Divergent by Veronica Roth.
I know, I know, you can all kill me now! As much as I really want to start this book, I'm really worried that I'm not going to like it. Everybody and their mother are pretty much in love with this series, add the fact that my friend brought me this book as a gift, and it's gotten me extra worried and intimidated about what I'm really going to think of it. Let's just hope I enjoy it.

3. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl.
This is another book that everyone has been going gaga over recently. I've had a copy of this book in my possession for a few years and have yet to pick it up to read. At first, I didn't read it because of its size. (Back when I thought it was a large book) Now I'm intimidated because; everyone loves it - and I really want to love it myself, but I have a feeling that it may not be my cup of tea...

4. Gone by Michael Grant.
I purchased this book around the same time as I got Beautiful creatures a few years back. The reasons why I'm intimidated are pretty much the same as well, although I am a little excited to see if I'll enjoy this book. It's told in the perspective of a male character, and I think that's going to be interesting. I'm still a little worried about whether I'll go along with all the hype though.

5. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini.
I received this book for my birthday last year, and at the time, I was really excited to have it. Unfortunately, not long after that I went into a huge reading slump and never picked it up. However, now that I'm back into reading, I've been trying to fit it into my list of books to read. I've heard so many amazing things about this series, but I'm a little intimidated by the aspect of ‘Gods’ in a book. I think I've only read one book that revolved around it, so I'm worried I'm not going to like it as much as everyone else has... Let's hope I do!

6. Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan.
I have to say; I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Sci-Fi books in general. I read a few when I was younger and really didn't like them, but that may have been because I was a young teen and didn't really appreciate or understand a lot of the content. This book has been sitting on my shelf for ages now, and I'm just intimidated by the fact that it's a Sci-Fi novel, I just hope my opinion on the Sci-Fi genre has changed as I've grown older.

7. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore.
This is another Sci-Fi book that I'm worried about starting. Originally when I picked up this book, I didn't realise it was about Aliens. I'm pretty sure if I'd known at the time, I wouldn't have bought it. Seeing as I DO own it, I really want to finally start it. The series has had some glowing reviews but it just intimidates me to death, because I'm worried that the author will try and mix Action and Sci-Fi together and it will all go to crap. Hopefully, once I actually pick it up and start reading it, I will enjoy it!

8. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
Oh dear, sweet, Pride and Prejudice - you classic, you! With the exception of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Romeo and Juliet and Of Mice And Men, I've not read any classics at all. The three I have read, I read in school and I strongly disliked Of Mice And Men - I loved the other two. Now, for some reason, I have this huge block when it comes to thinking about reading classics, they're just so intimidating and scary in my opinion. I really need to just get over this silly fear and get down to reading one - and I'll probably start with this one.

9. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
I'm pretty sure I'm going to find every historical fiction book I want to read quite intimidating. This is because, as you all know, I've never really been keen on the genre in general. However, after reading two historical fiction novels, my view and opinion on the genre has changed - but this doesn't make me any less weary of them. I'm sure this book is going to be great, because so many people love it, but I'm still a little intimidated by the whole thought of it in general.

  1. Game of Thrones made my list, too. That whole series is terrifyingly big. I love Pride and Prejudice, but totally get the classic block. I hated I am Number 4, so you're not missing much, in my opinion. Great list!

  3. I say get over your fear of Jane Austen by reading 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.' You get the basic plot and some of the original dialogue, but in a fun, easy-to-read way.

But if you really want to get into the classics, I like the Bronte sisters better than Jane Austen. (Sorry, that's just my personal preference.) 'Wuthering Heights' is my favorite, but 'Jane Eyre' is very, very good too.

  4. I wouldn't go anywhere hear Game Of Thrones as I know I would be baffled on page 1! I'm not really that good with fantasy and sci-fi in general so I do avoid them. I did love Divergent, Beautiful Creatures and A Great & Terrible Beauty but I couldn't get into Starcrossed.
I find classics intimidating and I avoid them which is terrible of me.

  5. I've read six of the nine on this list... One I loved, one I liked, one was average even though everyone else loves it, one I wanted to like but didn't, and two I didn't like at all! (And two are in my enormous TBR.)
